Last Year in Review (Crafts, Libraries and More!)

It's kind of sad because I'm having to reference social media sites to remember how 2012 started but I'm remembering now. I started off just working at the library, not in school and not really doing too much. I was bored and had a lot of time to fill so I decided to start looking to volunteer places. Getting a second job was just not happening. So I started filling out forms for the animal shelters and got scooped up by one of the no-kill shelters around here. It took a while but around March they set up orientation and I got all situated. Life kind of stood still until March and then things started to pick up.

I went to my first con. Genericon over at RPI and I cosplayed Death(from Sandman) and Marceline the Vampire Queen. No one recognized Death but I got a lot of compliments on my Marceline. The costumes were kind of throw-togethers and were pretty easy over all. But they came out at least halfway decent though my Death wasn't overly awesome.

I paid off my car loan! I got to model for our local costume store.

The boy started making Dubstep songs and got excited about music again.

I also took a "family potrait" with two good friends and the boy. It was really silly and I got to wear this sweet, ugly sweater.

I started a life overhaul where I cleaned my entire apartment and tried to keep it clean. So far, it gets messy but not filthy and it usually only takes twenty minutes to get it picked up again. It's really nice actually.

Then I called up school and told them how everything got screwed up because of a snow storm and yes please I'd like to go back to school? So I started taking summer courses and met a few people. One of them became my friend and proved to me that yes, I can still make friends. We bonded over Tumblr and Glee

I had a brief fling with wanting to be a drag kind but it got about as far as "Oh my god, my boobs will never be able to be hidden" and then I gave up.

I went to Conbust with my little sister and had fun! Didn't dress up for this one but met a really cute Wednesday Addams cosplayer.

I gave up on roller derby because it just made me way to anxiety riddled but I still love the game. I saw a lot of bouts both to the east and west of me. And ate lots of Denny's.

I read 98 books and finished all of the A Song of Ice and Fire books. I miss them. I WANT MORE! I even finished the TV show.

Started school again full time and am on the track for graduation this summer.

I wrote a book! And made a writer friend. That was pretty exciting. I can't wait to start getting rejected by publishers. I saw Amanda Palmer in concert! AGH BEST EVER! (thanks jess)

I got engaged to the most perfect boy evereverever.

Also went to BAMcon, tried to go to one Ren Faire and failed and made it to another Ren Faire and while I liked it, I found it over priced and not as fun or in character as I would have liked. I might blame the friend we went with as he ditched us the moment we got there for some girl but that probably wasn't the only reason it was less than stellar.

I started cross stitching, got a new tattoo and a new camera.

I learned to play rolling stones, ccr and rains of castamere on my ukulele.

I started baking.... a lot.

I started going to the gym again! And stopped again....

There were vacations! and NYC trips! And new friends! And reconnected old friends. And I lost some friends but that happens with time.

I'm sorry, this entry is rambling and not well organized. It's been a big year. Let's see if I can't make this year even better.

Edit: I forgot to say that I also met Rasputina by accident and sang really obnoxiously in front of them. Thank you Jess <3

It also seems like I should mention that a few good people in my life passed away. I hope they find peace.
